View Records Sponsored partner optionArizona booking images are agency- and custody-specific records, not one statewide public photo archive. Start by identifying who created the image.
Agency, facility, booking number and date are more important than the image alone.
For Arizona public-record mugshots, identify the arresting or custodial agency first, preserve the booking number and date with the image, use Arizona corrections only for state custody and DPS only for its own record products, and verify the case outcome separately in court.
A mugshot or booking photo, when public, is tied to the agency and custody event that created it. Arizona does not turn every local booking image into one public statewide mugshot archive. Arizona corrections maintains state inmate information and may hold images connected with state correctional custody, while local booking images can remain with sheriffs or other arresting agencies.
Arizona DPS also separates criminal-history records from DPS arrest, offense and incident records. That distinction is useful when a search result contains a photo but the underlying record question is different. The image documents a booking or custody event; it does not establish guilt, conviction or final case disposition.
| Need | Start with | Boundary |
|---|---|---|
| Local booking photo | Arresting/custodial agency | Agency-specific booking record |
| State inmate photo/data | Arizona corrections | State correctional custody |
| DPS incident/offense record | Arizona DPS records request | DPS-created law-enforcement file |
| State criminal-history review | DPS criminal-history process | Different record product with restricted access |
A copied image without source context is weak evidence.
Images can persist after custody changes.
